The Schwinn “Continental” 10 speed bicycle produced in the late 1970s was a very popular “middle of the road” Road Bike. This is one of many Ive bought over the last few years that I tuned up and repaired to sell. Featuring a flash/fillet welded frame, tubular fork(very noticable difference in appearance from the Varsity), aluminum bars, French produced high flange hubs and most of the rest was “Schwinn Approved” components in aluminum and steel. You still find these on the road or for sale on many places as these were very popular during the road bike/10 speed boom. They are on the heavy side of vintage road bikes for around town or short commutes they are great. More than average maintenance is required as its a large non-sealed bottom bracket and non sealed hubs (use synthetic waterproof grease!). These do have a comfortable ride due to the steel frame and fork. You can see the undercoat of primer on the top tube where the candy red color has worn off. -Jones
