SF Bike Party July “Punk Rock Olympics” ride…

Wow! Sometimes I just have to start out a post by saying “Wow!” cause some bike party rides are fantastic. SFBP has gotten alot bigger as far as the number of riders, especially more fun for a summer ride. To celebrate the Olympic season they setup a few events and awarded some medals to the winners. At the start of the ride in Golden Gate Park there was a but slapping pedal bike, then at the second stop of the ride at the beach on Hwy 1 there was a “Bike Sumo” challenge. The Bike Sumo was really cool, people had to hold a track stand and bunny hop to make the other cyclist loose his or her balance and step outside the circle, just as in Sumo wrestling. It was awesome to see a few people hold their balance for so long and then bunny hop for position to force their opponent outside the circle. Our group rode with a great Punk Rock music track playing off a replica English phone booth bike trailer all the way to the last stop at the SF Civic Center downtown. I don’t think Iv’e ever seen a better “Bike Party Dance Party” go off like this one before! Someone had a really good dance music set blasting out of their music trailer for over a half hour. Wow! So much fun, I cant wait to ride SF Bike Party again!
