“Spoke POV” programmable bicycle wheels LIGHTS!

When my “hokey spokes” bike wheel lights started to go out (due to age) ,and I couldnt get “Bike Party” to show up in the programable lettering, I started looking into a new wheel mounted bicycle light. I found some unbeleivable wheel lights called “Spoke POVs”. It took me many times looking at their website and pictures of the wheel lights to figure out how they work.

Its a “kit” you have to assemble yourself with all the circuit chips, led’s and pcb board. You buy it disassembled and solder every single one into the board. Then the lights can be programmed from your computer through a USB cable and dongle. There are 4 “banks” that will hold the data for graphics, lettering or anything you want in a bitmap format. You set the “revolution count” to whenever you want it to change from graphic to graphic in the next info bank.

Luckily, I know a guy who has awesome solder skills and so I bought a pair of the Spoke POVs and the USB dongle. I ordered them and had them shipped straight over to my solder guy to be put together. When they were finished they got shipped back to me to load graphics in and test the out. What was the first graphic I loaded up to test it out? A San Jose Sharks logo!

So after almost a year of using the Spoke POVs I have to say they are amazing! Every time they are turned on I gets all kinds of ooo’s and ah’s, Especially on San Jose Bike Party rides. Another great thing about Spoke Povs is they greatly increase your visability when riding at night. -Jones
